Unlike past, from 2012 onwards candidates will be able to download their exam admit card at UPSC website. Yes, you heard it. From now on even UPSC admit card will be available online.
Though little late but it seems that even UPSC is learning that it is much better to upload admit card on Internet, rather than sending it by post or asking the candidates to visit UPSC office physically for duplicate hall ticket. A press note which has appeared in The Times of India, main paper and not in Ascent has confirmed the same.

IPL: Delhi sign up 3 players from domestic circuit
Delhi's 19-year-old all-rounder Pawan Negi and the batting duo of Manprit Juneja (Gujarat) and Kuldeep Chandrakant Raval (Saurashtra) will join the Daredevils in the season starting April 4.
"We are delighted to have signed up talented cricketers we spotted on the domestic circuit this season," the team's Mentor TA Sekar said in a statement.
"Together with picking up Kevin Pietersen this season, we have been taking the steps necessary for us to become a competitive squad again. We are confident that we will have the right mix of players to choose from for all our games this season."
Delhi Daredevils also announced buying out former India all-rounder S Sriram, South African all-rounder Robert Frylinck, leg-spinner Vivek Yadav and left-arm spinner Rajesh Pawar's contracts.
Sriram, 35, played one game while the other three did not figure in any of the matches for Delhi Daredevils last season. Earlier, all-rounder Andrew McDonald was traded with Royal Challengers Bangalore.
"We were tracking 21-year-old Manprit Juneja from before he scored 201 on first class debut against Tamil Nadu. We are confident he will make his presence felt in the Delhi Daredevils squad and push real hard for a place in the middle-order this season," Sekar said of the youngster.
Sekar said Negi's ability to be nagging with the ball and his effectiveness as a middle-order batsman made the him an exciting talent.
"He can be an effective left-handed all-rounder. He caught our eye when taking six wickets for Delhi in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament at Lahli in Rohtak," Sekar said.
The left-handed Raval slammed two half-centuries for Saurashtra in the West Zone league games of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in Rajkot.
"He fits into the team's scheme of things well since he has the game and the temperament to be an impact player in the middle-order," Sekar said.

Vidoe:Dangerous Mumbai train stunt goes viral
Here's how they pull it off
One of them lies down on the tracks moments before an express train arrives, and lets the train pass over him. After the train whizzes by, the person emerges unscathed. His friend, who is apparently shooting this whole episode, joins him and then both of them jubilantly wave at the camera.
After watching the crazy video, the railway police are trying to trace the boys who pulled off the stunt early this month.
The police have appealed to local people to share information about the whereabouts of these 'stuntmen' so that necessary action can be taken against them.
After MiD DAY brought this widely circulated video link to the notice of the Government Railway Police (GRP), they beefed up security around Khadaki railway station.
"It is out of sheer luck that the person doing these stunts has emerged alive. This act is suicidal."
"If a person doing such stunts is hit by any precariously dangling object such as hose pipe from the passing train, he will die on the spot," Senior Inspector of GRP Mahendra Rokade said. "I have asked all my officers to keep a close watch near Khadaki railway tracks and if we find any one doing stunts, the person will be booked for attempt to suicide under Section 309 of the IPC."
Rokade said this was not the first time such dangerous activities had been brought to the GRP's notice.
"We were informed about the similar activities being carried out two years ago and at that time we had beefed up security as well," Rokade said. "This time too, we will do the same."
Reacting to the video, Central Railway public relations officer Y K Singh said, "We are going all out to create awareness asking commuters to strictly use foot over bridge while crossing railway tracks. Minimum four to five people die per month while carelessly crossing railway tracks near Shivajinagar and Pimpri railway stations."
Avi Dodke, a city resident, uploaded the video on Facebook on January 13.

Apple's iBooks Textbooks initiative ...!
It seems there is quite a bit of skepticism and controversy surrounding the new Apple iBooks 2 and Textbooks application and service. Most is centered on the iPad requirement and the control of output from the iBook Author tool. I agree with some of these arguments, but also believe the iBooks 2/Textbooks announcement from yesterday is just one part of the story we will hear from Apple in the near future.

Sport news:Team Dhoni could set new record for India's worst: Stats
If Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his men continue their losing streak in the fourth Test against Australia at Adelaide, it could prove to be the worst phase in the annals of Indian cricket.
Since Dhoni led his team in England last summer, India have lost seven out of seven Tests in the two series abroad.
It's already the second worst phase in the history of Indian cricket. And it could prove to be the worst if they lose in the fourth and final Test against Australia, beginning January 24.
Twice in their history of 79 years and 461 Tests, India have lost seven Tests in succession in two series - once in 1967 when Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi's men lost in England and Australia by 3-0 and 4-0 margins. Only eight years before, India had lost eight Tests in two series of five matches each against the West Indies and Australia in 1958-59.
Tiger Pataudi's men in 1967, though, could claim to have done better than the modern-day Indian team.
Even though they drew blank in both England and Australia, they lost only two matches by an innings margin.
Dhoni's men have already suffered four innings defeats in the last five Tests.
There is another reason why the men of '67 could look down on Dhoni's team. While only Rahul Dravid has been a centurion in the past two series abroad, Pataudi (148 at Headingley) and M L Jaisimha (101 at Brisbane) ensured they had more than one century-maker in their ranks.
Presently, Dhoni's men are a shade better than the team of '59, but only by a wafer-thin margin.
It could all change in Adelaide. During the season of 1958-59, India lost 3-0 to the West Indies at home and 5-0 away to England. They had eight losses out of 10 Tests in that dreadful spell of nine months.
But those men in whites still salvaged two draws. Dhoni and his team have drawn blank in England and Australia so far.
Another perspective could truly reflect how dismal Dhoni's men have been. When India lost eight Tests from two series in 1958-59, it had no less than four captains in the space of four Tests.
When West Indies arrived in the winter of 1958, India began with Polly Umrigar and then handed over the leadership to Ghulam Ahmed for two Tests. For the final two Tests, Vinoo Mankad and Hemu Adhikari led the team into the middle.
Dhoni, on the contrary, is at the helm presently and completely secure as leader.
In those two wretched series of 50s and 60s, the teams were a cut above what England and Australia have been able to throw at the Indians in the last seven months.
The likes of Wes Hall, Fred Trueman and Brian Statham in 1958-59 and John Snow and Graham McKenzie in 1967-68 were the legends of the game.
James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Tim Bresnan for England and James Pattinson, Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus for Australia, with all due respects, still have some way to go.
Thus the final Test at Adelaide could be more important in more ways than one.

how much sleep is enough...?
how much sleep is enough?
As with most things, it's certainly an individual factor and varies from person to person. As a general guideline though, I would recommend that everyone out there strive to get a minimum of 8 hours of sleep every single night. If you feel that you require more than that, sleep for 9 hours or for even longer if you need to.
The bottom line is to get enough sleep each night so that you feel 100% rested and energized throughout the day. If you regularly feel fatigued and sluggish, then increasing your sleeping time is a must.
In terms of building muscle size and strength, proper amounts of sleep will:
- Increase your mental focus and energy
- Improve your strength
- Allow for proper recovery in between workouts
- Lower cortisol levels
- Increase testosterone
- Raise growth hormone levels
- Decrease insulin resistance
That should be plenty of incentive right there to start paying close attention to how much sleep you're getting each night.
Why Sleep Deprivation Will Inhibit Your Muscle Gains............!
Here 4 reasons are given for Why Sleep Deprivation Will Inhibit Your Muscle Gains...
It may seem like a trivial issue that could be easily overlooked, but giving your body a proper sleep every night really is an important step in setting the wheels for maximum muscle growth into motion.
If you really want to see the most dramatic changes in your body over the shortest period of time possible, a restful, quality sleep every single night is a must.
What makes a proper sleep so important?
Well, let's simply take a look at what happens when you DON'T get a proper sleep each night…
1) Mental focus will decline.
One of the biggest problems with sleep deprivation is the effect that it will have on your mental state. Studies have shown that just a single night with insufficient rest will have a significant negative impact on your mental focus and willingness to perform difficult tasks.
Putting forth an all-out effort every time you enter the gym is one of the primary keys to building muscle fast, and in order to do so you must remain mentally sharp at all times.
2) Physical performance will suffer.
Not only will sleep deprivation have a negative impact on your state of mind, but it will also have physical consequences as well. Without a proper sleep, your strength levels will decrease and you'll end up using less weight and/or performing fewer reps than you would normally be capable of.
Your bottom line muscle gains are ultimately determined by the steady increases in poundage that you are able to make on all of your exercises, and keeping your strength at top levels is critical in achieving this as quickly as possible.
3) Recovery will be interrupted.
As you are probably already aware, your muscles do not actually grow while you are IN the gym. Rather, they grow while you are OUT of the gym eating and resting.
The time that you spend sleeping is one of the primary periods where the recovery and remodeling of damaged muscle tissue takes place. Not only do your muscles require recovery time, but your central nervous system, joints and immune system need rest too.
4) Hormone levels will be compromised.
Depriving your body of sleep will have a negative impact on some of the most important muscle building and fat burning hormones circulating in your body. I'm talking specifically about cortisol, testosterone, growth hormone and insulin.
a) Cortisol - A catabolic stress hormone that increases abdominal fat storage and stimulates the breakdown of muscle tissue for use as energy.
Studies have shown that insufficient sleep will cause the body to release higher amounts of this hormone.
b) Testosterone - The most important hormone when it comes to building muscle. The higher your levels of testosterone, the more muscle you can build.
Sleep deprivation measurably lowers testosterone levels.
c) Growth Hormone - Regenerates the body and plays a large role in building and maintaining muscle.
The time that you sleep is also the time when your body experiences a natural surge in growth hormone levels. If you fail to get a proper rest at night this hormonal surge will be compromised.
d) Insulin - Responsible for the uptake of important nutrients into your body cells.
Sleep deprivation can result in an increase in your body's insulin resistance levels. This means that your body will have to release higher-than-normal amounts of this hormone to compensate. This can lead to excess fat storage, diabetes or heart disease.

No money for 'Kolaveri di' Dhanush ...!
No money for 'Kolaveri di' Dhanush
'Kolaveri di' might have become a landmark on the 2011 music calendar, but unfortunately, the man behind the popular number - Dhanush - is unable to reap any monetary benefit out of the situation.
Apparently, Dhanush sold the rights for 'Kolaveri' to Sony Music for a pittance, not knowing how far the song was fated to go. And now when there are various versions of the number making their way around the world (in Pakistan, as well), Dhanush's family and friends are dismayed at his meagre income from the deal.
In fact, there is nothing the South star can do to curb the myriad versions of 'Kolaveri' that are floating around. Also, he has no control over the various versions of the song that the actor has served up for future release. Shockingly the Hindi version of 'Kolaveri' is out of Dhanush's hands.
The star-singer told a tabloid, "I can't release any version of 'Kolaveri' without Sony's approval. And I'll have to share every version of the song with them. So essentially I'll get paid only for my singing. Like the Tamil version, the Hindi version of 'Kolaveri' is with Sony Music. There's nothing I can do about it."
About not retaining the rights for the song, Dhanush said, "Who knew the song would go so far? But it's okay. I don't regret it. I am content with what I've got from this song. And what I've got is priceless."

Difference between British English and US English
Language is one aspect which can never be ignored. There are various ways in which a person communicates with his peers or friends. There are varieties with respect to both the dialect. The language English is spoken differently in US as well as Britain. The US English is often considered to be grammatical incorrect. However, none of the versions are declared as the perfect one. The main difference between British English and US English would be with respect with spellings. In case of British English emphasis id given on present tense. Any other way of speaking would be considered incorrect. For eg, In case of Britain English the following would be applicable: I've lost my pen. Can you please look for it? The US English would go as: I lost my pen. Can you please look for it? So basically the Americans believe in phrasing sentences in simple past tense while Britain's believe in present tense.
Similarly the Britain's prefer present perfect as compared to simple past. The American English might include already, yet and just. An example of American English would be: I just had breakfast. The Britans would also say I've just had breakfast. The other important difference is use of have vs has. The Americans would any day prefer to use have rather than has. So it could be have, haven't I, haven't got etc. The Britain's on the other hand prefer has. The other important differentiation is use of verb. Americans prefer saying gotten (got) while Britain's would stick to using got in communication. There are certain vocabulary changes in both. The word rubber can mean a condom in case of American English while an object to erase out markings in Britain. The main differentiation could be use of prepositions. The Americans prefer saying on the weekend as compared to at the weekend(British English). Even spellings have a huge difference in both forms. Many word documents would show the American accepted words. They might be spelt differently in Britain. You need to be sure of all these words such as (American–British):
· Color – Colour
· Favor- Favour
· Humor – Humour
· Recognize – Recognise
The best way is to follow a global English which could be used anywhere across the globe. You would need to be consistent in your dialect. Majority of people prefer American English as it sounds most rustic, consists slang and not formal.
