Students from China hummed a Hindi movie song while Indian students returned the compliment by rendering a popular Chinese number as expatriates from that country welcomed the Chinese New Year amid much fanfare here.
The Chinese Consul General in Kolkata Zhang Lizhong Friday night wished all a happy New Year and said relations between the two countries have been and will continue to grow stronger.
Seven Chinese students studying in the St. Xaviers College sang "Suraj Ki Baahon Mein" from the movie "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara" while Indian students from the School of Chinese language rendered the "Real Heroes" originally sung by action superstar Jackie Chan as the crowd of over 200 Chinese expatriates clapped merrily."This year is the Year of the Dragon. Our ties with India have steadily grown and we are sincerely committed towards strengthening the ties further," Zhang said.
