Chinese manufacturer Vivo has claimed a world first with its Xplay 3S
smartphone, the first with 2K (2560x1440p) resolution.
The phone comes with a 6-inch display with pixel density of 490ppi, a
2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 chipset, 3GB RAM, 13MP rear camera,
5MP front camera, a customized version of Android named Funtouch OS,
32GB built-in storage, a 3,200mAh battery and support for LTE.
According to Engadget, Chinese online store Tmall will be taking
pre-orders for the phone soon. The price is CNY 3,498, or about USD
580. Vivo said it aims to expand to overseas markets next year.
Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S5 smartphone is also rumoured to feature 2K
resolution. Earlier this year, LG unveiled its 2K resolution display
panel that is likely to be used in future smartphones. Chinese
manufacturer Oppo has also announced that its upcoming Find 7 handset
