Airtel has finally launched its 4G for smartphones service in Kolkata. It was the first city to get the telecom operator's 4G service in 2012 but the service was limited to use on USB or Wi-Fi dongles until now.
"Kolkata witnessed the advent of 4G in 2012, and today, we are proud to announce the launch of the much awaited 4G on mobile, empowering residents in the city to upgrade to 4G," said P.D. Sarma, hub CEO – WBO & NESA, Bharti Airtel (India).
Apart from Kolkata, Airtel also provides 4G for smartphones in Bangalore, Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, Ludhiana, and Jalandhar cities.
Like other cities, the Kolkata consumers will be able to use Airtel 4G for smartphones on Android devices like XOLO LT900, LG G2 4G, and Oppo Find 7a (as well as Apple iPhone 5S and 5C).
