New ICC president :Alan Issac

Sharad Pawar's reign as the president of the International Cricket
Council ended on Thursday(05-07-2012) as New Zealand's Alan Isaac took
charge from him for a two-year term at the ICC Annual Conference here.

The 60-year-old Isaac, a former New Zealand Cricket chief, became the
eighth president of the ICC, while former South Africa wicket-kepeer
David Richardson was confirmed as the new chief executive of the world
body, taking over from Haroon Lorgat.

Issac will be the last to hold the post in its current shape as it
will become a ceremonial role once he steps down in 2014. Over the
past two years, Isaac has been the ICC's vice-president, a position
that the body plans to abolish by amending the constitution. The
amendment envisages the appointment of a chairman, who will hold
office for two years, as the head of the ICC.

"When I look at the list of previous presidents, I am reminded of the
importance of this office. In the midst of my pride at being chosen as
president, I recognise that there is, of course, much hard work and
much progress needed if we are to maintain the game's current healthy
state," Isaac said.

"I believe that the challenges ahead are no less daunting than those
we have faced in the last two years if we are to maintain the vibrancy
and viability of the three formats of the sport. We are fortunate as a
sport — indeed unique — to have three different formats at
international level.

"We will all strive not only to preserve those formats but to build on
their foundations. In that way the ICC will continue to oversee a
great sport and we will all work to make it even greater. I look
forward to serving the game with honesty and integrity and to the best
of my ability. I look forward to handing on the guardianship of the
sport with the game enjoying even greater health," he said.

Richardson, after being confirmed as successor to Lorgat who stood
down after four years as the ICC chief executive, said, "It is a real
honour to be confirmed as the ICC Chief Executive and I want to pay
tribute to Lorgat.

"I have learnt much in the last four years and I inherit a game in
great health with much to be optimistic about. I look forward to
building on that and tackling the challenges ahead," Richardson, who
played 42 Tests for South Africa and has been ICC's general manager –
for the last 10 years, said.

Meanwhile, it was decided that necessary amendments to the ICC and IDI
Articles of Association would be made to create the post of chairman,
remove the role of vice-president and vary the role and powers of the
president, all with effect from the close of the 2014 Annual
Conference.

The formalisation of these amendments will give effect to the
principles agreed by the ICC Board earlier this year. Until the end of
the 2014 Annual Conference, the role of the ICC president will remain
in its current form, but from the end of the 2014 Annual Conference it
will become ceremonial in nature with a term of only one year.

A new role of chairman of the ICC and IDI Board will be created from
the end of the 2014 Annual Conference. The term of office will be two
years and the chairman will be appointed by the Board at its first
meeting following the 2014 Annual Conference.

Russia and Hungary were confirmed as new Affiliate members of the ICC
but Switzerland was removed as an Affiliate member having been
suspended at the 2011 Annual Conference for failing to comply with the
ICC's membership criteria and remaining unable to do so by the 2012
Annual Conference.

There are now 106 members of the ICC. The ICC Annual Conference is
made up of representatives of the 10 full members, 36 associate
members and five affiliate regional representatives.

All about GOD Particle: Existence Of The God Particle

Scientists hunting the elusive subatomic 'Higgs' particle will unveil
findings on Wednesday(04-july-2012) that take them nearer to
understanding how the Big Bang at the dawn of time gave rise to stars,
planets and even life.

Physicists who have been smashing particles together near light-speed
at the CERN laboratory near Geneva have already seen tantalising
glimpses of the "Higgs boson", the missing piece of the fundamental
theory of physics known as the Standard Model.

The world of science now awaits a mass of evidence big enough to be
deemed a formal discovery. The secrecy surrounding Wednesday's
announcement has fuelled speculation that nearly 40 years of research
have reached a climax.

Data harvested from CERN's Large Hadron Collider, the biggest particle
accelerator in the world, could also shed light on the make-up of the
poorly understood 'dark matter' and "dark energy" that make up 96
percent of the universe. It may even point the way to research into
the possibility of parallel universes.

CERN is planning to beam the announcement live around the world to a
physics conference in Melbourne, Australia. Related events are planned
in countries involved in the project, including Britain. The unusual
level of stage management has fuelled the sense that big news is on
the cards.

On Monday, US physicists said they had found the strongest evidence
yet of the existence of the Higgs in a mass of data collected from the
now-mothballed Tevatron particle accelerator, run by the Fermi
National Accelerator Lab outside Chicago.

"It will be interesting to see how it lines up with CERN's results on
Wednesday," said CERN spokesman James Gillies.

Some scientists working on the project have told Reuters they expect
the unveiling of a formal discovery while others expect it to fall
just short.

With thousands of physicists involved, divided into two separate teams
called Atlas and CMS, CERN insists the full picture will not be clear
to anyone until a seminar shortly before Wednesday's announcement.

"Even CERN's director general won't know much before the seminar
reveals the exact results," said Pauline Gagnon, a Canadian particle
physicist working on Atlas. "They are being finalised at the last
minute after much scrutiny."

The Higgs particle, although crucial for understanding how the
universe was formed, remains theoretical. It is the last undiscovered
piece of the Standard Model that describes the fundamental make-up of
the universe. The model is for physicists what the theory of evolution
is for biologists.

Scientists say the existence of dark matter and dark energy suggests
the Standard Model, if validated by a Higgs discovery, is just the
first layer of a more complex theory that includes the vast bulk of
the universe that is now poorly understood.

"The Standard Model has a few major flaws; the Higgs boson discovery
would only fix one of them," said Gagnon.

"We still have no clue regarding what makes 96 percent of the content
of the universe. This should keep us physicists busy for a few more
decades."

President Poll: PA Sangma, BJP May Challenge Pranab Mukherjee’s Nomination

Even though the nomination of Congress-led United Progressive
Alliance (UPA) candidate Pranab Mukherjee was found to be valid by the
returning officer, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders are
meeting to decide whether to challenge his nomination in court or not.

The meeting is taking place at BJP Lok Sabha MP and Leader of
Opposition Sushma Swaraj's residence in New Delhi and is being
attended by the leaders of all the political parties supporting former
Lok Sabha speaker PA Sangma's candidature. Janata Party chief
Subramanian Swamy will be the key negotiator for Sangma.

The BJP had alleged that Mukherjee's signature on the resignation
letter to the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) had been forged. BJP
leaders claim that Mukherjee's signature on the resignation letter,
which he produced in his affidavit, was forged was different from his
normal one.

On Tuesday returning officer had accepted Mukherjee's nomination and
over ruled Sangma's objection that the UPA candidate held an office of
profit as the chairman of the ISI when he filed the nomination.

According to the returning officer the UPA nominee had resigned before
filing his nomination. He further said that after the scrutiny of all
the nominations filed for the elections, only those of Sangma and
Mukherjee were found to be valid.

The Congress hit back saying Mukherjee had resigned from all the posts
he held, including that of the ISI chairman, before filing his
nomination.

The ISI Kolkata had also backed the former finance minister saying the
post of its chairman was an honorary one, and not an office of profit.

Roger Federer advanced to his record eighth Wimbledon final on Friday

Roger Federer advanced to his record eighth Wimbledon final on
Friday, beating defending champion Novak Djokovic in four sets.
The six-time champion defeated Djokovic 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 under a
closed roof on Centre Court and is now one victory from equaling two
other records in an already record-laden career.
"This is what you want to be playing for — the Wimbledon trophy,"
Federer said. "I've got a tough task ahead of me."

If Federer beats either Andy Murray or Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in Sunday's
final, he will equal Pete Sampras' record of seven Wimbledon titles, a
mark he shares with 1880s player William Renshaw. He would also take
over the No. 1 ranking from Djokovic and equal Sampras' record of 286
weeks as the top-ranked player.
Murray and Tsonga were to play in the other semifinal later Friday.
Neither has won a Grand Slam title; Federer is aiming for his 17th.
"There's obviously a lot on the line for me in terms of winning here,
the all-time Grand Slam record, world No. 1," Federer said. "I'm also
going into that match with some pressure, but I'm excited about it.
That's what I play for."
Both Federer and Djokovic went for winners on almost every point. But
it was Federer who got the key points when they mattered in the third
set.
"I was able to play some fantastic tennis today," Federer said. "The
first two sets went really quickly, and then the third set was
obviously key to the match. I was able to maybe step it up, get a bit
lucky maybe."
At 4-4, Djokovic had his chance with only his third break point of the
match. Federer held with three service winners.
Moments later, while serving to stay in the set — and, essentially,
the match— Djokovic gifted Federer a pair of break points by blasting
an overhead long with much of the court open. He saved one, but
Federer's overhead smash on the second gave the Swiss great the third
set, and put him on the way to Wimbledon final No. 8.
The win improved Federer's semifinal record at the All England Club to
8-0. His only loss in the final came in 2008, when Rafael Nadal beat
him 9-7 in the fifth set.
Federer earned the only break of the first set to take the lead, and
Djokovic returned the favor in the second set to even the score.
The third set turned out to be the decisive one, and Djokovic fought
to stay in it right from the start.
After holding easily, Federer earned a break point when Djokovic sent
a forehand long. Although the top-ranked Serb saved it, and eventually
held to 1-1, it was the beginning of the end.
The next three games went quickly and on serve, but Federer then
earned a pair of break points in the sixth game. Djokovic again saved
them, the first after a 24-stroke rally that ended with Federer's
forehand going wide.

Eega Review : 'Never seen before film in Indian cinema': Rating 4/5

Story

Sudeep (Sudeep) is a rich businessman with lot of villain shades. He
do everything to get success. He even kills or cheats his own friends
if required. He sets his eyes on Indhu (Samantha), a miniature
sculpture artist and social worker. On the other hand Indhu is in love
with Nani (Nani), but she hides her love and pretends to ignore Nani.
But Nani is mad of Indhu and follows her. Sudeep realises that Indhu
is in love with Nani. He then kills Nani. Nani reborns as 'Eega'
(housefly). He remembers the incidents that took place in his last
birth. How will 'Eega' takes his revenge on the villain forms the rest
of the story.

Performances

The Animated 'fly' is the hero in the film. The film is like a Tom &
Jerry fight between the villain and the fly

The on screen pairing of Samantha and Nani is fresh and sizzling.
Though Nani appears only in the first half, he impresses us with his
perfect comedy timing.

Samantha is pretty and suits the role perfectly. However, the glamour
role of Samantha is less when compared with her previous movies. She
did a performance oriented role with Eega. This is also the first time
Samantha did a movie where the focus is more on her rather than the
hero.

Sudeep is the top performer of the movie. He is one of the top actors
in Kannada cinema. He is also well established as a director.
Accepting role of a villain needs lot of guts, which he has. This is
definitely one of the lifetime special role to Sudeep. Sudeep has
performed the role with ease and perfection.

Taagubothu Ramesh's comedy sequence brings lot of laugh.

Aditya and Santhanam(Tamil) also justified their role well, though
they appears only in few scenes they make a mark.

Analysis

Crazy Mohan's hilarious dialogues , screenplay by Rajamouli -
Janardhan Maharshi, Keeravani's music , K. K. Senthil Kumar's camera
works and Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao's editing are highlights in the
movie. All of them made 'Eega' a rich quality product.

Rajamouli's used the special effects in the right way without any over
dose. He narrated the story "How can a housefly take revenge?" in a
excellent way. It is sure that it is a never seen before in Indian
cinema where an housefly behaves in such a realistic fashion. The film
has all the elements like love, sentiment and humour along with
fantasy.

Highlights

- 90 minutes of visual extravaganza and never seen before animated effects
- Eega teasing and irritating Sudeep
- Eega narrates the complete story to Samantha
- The last 20 minutes of the first half
- The build up towards the interval
- The car racing scene
- The interval surprise and the climax scenes.
- Rajamoulis' direction
- Sudeep's action

Final Word

This is one film which will definitely take Tollywood to greater
heights and all this credit goes to SS Rajamouli.

Euro 2012: Golden Boot winner is Torres

Fernando Torres won the Golden Boot as Euro 2012 top-scorer thanks to a goal and an assist in the final eight minutes of Spain's 4-0 victory over Italy in Sunday's final.

The Chelsea striker Torres scored in the 84th minute of the final and fed Juan Mata in the 88th. His earlier two goals came in the other 4-0 win over Ireland in the group stage.

Torres succeeds injured teammate David Villa, who was top scorer at Euro 2008 with four goals.
