Asia Cup 2014 stats: Sri Lanka only Test team to win all ODIs in 2014

With their five-wicket win over Pakistan in the 2014 Asia Cup final, Sri Lanka are now the only Test team to have won all their ODI matches (eight) in 2014.

Sri Lanka's magnificent triumph by five wickets is their second in three Asia Cup finals against Pakistan. Sri Lanka had won by five wickets at Colombo (SSC) on April 6, 1986 before losing by 39 runs at Bangabandhu National Stadium, Dhaka on June 7, 2000.


# Sri Lanka have won nine ODIs in succession between December 27, 2013 and March 8, 2014. They remain the only Test team to have won all ODIs (eight in succession) in 2014.

# Overall Sri Lanka have won seven finals out of 13 contested against Pakistan in ODIs (lost six).

# Fawad Alam (114 not out off 134 balls) has registered his career-best score - his maiden century in ODIs. (Pics)

# Misbah-ul-Haq (65) has posted his tenth fifty vs Sri Lanka - his 37th in ODis. The said innings is his 22nd fifty as captain in ODIs.

# For the first time, Misbah has recorded three successive fifties vs Sri Lanka in ODIs - 51 at Abu Dhabi on December 27, 2013; 73 at Fatullah on February 25, 2014 and 65 at Dhaka on March 8, 2014.

# Misbah and Fawad Alam have shared a stand of 122 - Pakistan's fourth century stand for the fourth wicket at the Asia Cup - the highest being 152 between Misbah and Umar Akmal vs Sri Lanka at Dhaka on March 15, 2012. The said partnership is the second highest for Pakistan for the fourth wicket at the Asia Cup.

# For the first time in an ODI, Lasith Malinga has captured the first five wickets to fall in an innings.

# Malinga's third five-wicket haul vs Pakistan is his seventh in ODIs. He has produced all three five-wicket hauls at the Asia Cup against Pakistan.

# Thirimanne is the third Sri Lankan player to post a hundred in an Asia Cup final - the first two being Sanath Jayasuriya - 125 vs India at Karachi on July 6, 2008 and Marvan Atapattu - 100 vs Pakistan at Dhaka on June 7, 2000.

# The top run-getters in the Asia Cup 2013-14 are Thirimanne

(279), Umar Akmal (253) and Kumar Sangakkara (248).

# Thirimanne has got his first player of the series award in ODIs.

# Since posting 107 vs India at Kingston on July 2, 2013, Mahela Jayawardene (75) has registered his first fifty in fourteen innings.

# Jayawardene's tenth fifty vs Pakistan is his 71st in ODIs.
