Common Admission Test 2014: Paper pattern changes


Common Admission Test (CAT) is an all India-test held by Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) to short list candidates for granting them admissions to post graduate and fellowship programmes in management courses.

CAT 2014 is scheduled to take place on November 16 and November 22, the registrations for which will start from August 6.

Paper pattern and Duration:

Section: Number of questions

Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation:  50 questions
Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning: 50 questions

The candidates can switch over from one section to another section at any point during the allotted exam timing. The time duration for the test will be 170 minutes i.e. two hours and 50 minutes. The exam will be held at 354 test sites in 99 cities across the nation.

No offline vouchers will be available this year. The candidates will have to make the payment online via credit card/ debit card/ net banking.

The registrations for CAT will be followed for 56 days and will end on September 30. Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCS), which has conducted examinations like GATE, JEE, AIPMT, JIPMER etc will be in charge of conducting CAT too, this year.

Each participating institute uses CAT score along with other parameters i.e. academic performance, work experience, group discussion, written assessment and interview performance etc. to short list candidates.
