PM Narendra Modi launches new website 'MyGov' for citizens

Within 60 days of assuming office, Honorable Prime Minister of India has launched a website MyGov, a platform that empowers the citizens of India to contribute towards good governance. The website targets to help citizens partcipate in governance by giving their opinions and views on important issues like clean Ganga or skill development.

Mr. Modi said, "In past 60 days I've experienced that there are many people who want to contribute towards nation-building, and devote their time and energy. MyGov platform is a technology-driven medium that would provide this opportunity to all the well wishers of India spread across the globe to contribute towards good governance."

"The platform would bridge gap gulf between people and government. Democracy cannot succeed without people's participation in government and this participation should not be limited only during elections," the Prime Minister said.

The platform will be implemented and managed by National Informatics Centre (NIC) of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY).

The technology based platform is structured to welcome advices and guidances from the people of India. The website has also made arrangements for discussion forums where people can share their thoughts and ideas pertaining to issues of national interest.

Mr. Modi on the launching event of the technology-run interactive platform, said that the government also wishes to get advices for the improvement of the web portal. The website allows constructive feedback and interaction.

Besides the prime minister, communications and IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, cabinet secretary Ajit Seth, DEITY secretary R S Sharma were also there at the launch of the portal.

"It is also an initiative to build a digital knowledge library. We will guide the people on the topics of national importance on which the government would like to know their views and ideas," said Sharma after the launch.

The web portal presents the stage to have interactive sessions with the government on a large scale. Now, it would be interesting to see how the government as well as the public responds to the new arena of interaction. Right now, there are six groups on the platform — Clean Ganga, Girl Child Education, Clean India, Skilled India, Digital India and Job Creation.
